Марчелло, молодой профессионал, вовлеченный в повседневную рутину, получает неожиданный звонок.
Его отец, эксцентричный человек, который живет за границей, после многих лет отсутствия объявляет о своем скором возвращении в Италию, чтобы принять участие в мероприятии для исторических автомобилей, и просит его позволить ему найти свой старый кабриолет и отремонтировать его.
Несколько лет назад, когда его отец уехал, Марчелло вызвался держать машину в порядке, но забыл свое обещание через несколько минут; так что за эти годы машиной пренебрегали, и он понимает, что должен что-то сделать.

Чтобы не разочаровать своего отца, он начинает искать и находить запасные части, а также заново открывает для себя удовольствие и страсть к уходу за старым автомобилем, подлинным сундуком с сокровищами воспоминаний, красоты и удовольствий, которыми можно наслаждаться вместе.
В последующие дни Марчелло действительно не знает, с чего начать: он посещает местных дилеров запчастей, затем продолжает исследования в Интернете, работает день и ночь и постепенно увлекается этой работой.

Он ежедневно ездит, чтобы доставить запасные части к Альдо, пока, чтобы закончить работу вовремя, он не выбрасывает свою куртку и закатывает рукава, уступая место захватывающей командной работе и обнаруживая, что восстановление автомобиля может быть неожиданно увлекательным делом.
В день прибытия отца работа еще не закончена, последние штрихи отсутствуют. Марчелло откладывает, пока его отец, нетерпеливый, притворяется, что видит машину. Здесь он, к своему удивлению, обнаруживает, что старый кабриолет красивее и в лучшей форме, чем он помнил. Он приглашает Марчелло сесть за руль, чтобы вместе поехать на гонку.

Marcello, a young professional stressed by daily routine, receives an unexpected call.
His father, an eccentric man who lives abroad, announces, after years of absence, his imminent return to Italy to participate in an event for historic cars, and asks him to let him find his old convertible ready to drive.
Years before, when his father left, Marcello had offered to keep the car in order but, being completely insensitive to classic cars, he had forgotten his promise a few minutes later; so over the years the car has been culpably neglected, and he understands that he must do something.
From here, what is a nuisance faced not to disappoint his father, becomes for Marcello an unexpected adventure, made of some difficulty but also of sharing and complicity, which leads him slowly to seek and find spare parts but also a something in himself set aside for too long, still capable of getting excited and rediscovering the pleasure and passion of caring for an old car, an authentic treasure chest of memories, beauty and pleasures to be savored together.
In the following days follow Marcello really doesn’t know where to start: he goes visiting the local spares dealers, then he goes on with internet research, he works day and night and slowly becomes passionate about this job.
Meanwhile, he drives daily to deliver the spare parts to Aldo until, in order to complete the job in time, he throws away his jacket and rolls up his sleeves giving way to an exciting team work and discovering that restoring a car historical can be unexpectedly satisfying.
It’s the day of dad’s arrival. A taxi leaves it to the old farmhouse, but the job is not finished yet, the final touches are missing. Marcello procrastinates until his father, impatient, pretends to see the car. Here he discovers, to his surprise, that the old convertible is more beautiful and in better shape than he remembered and, above all, that his son Marcello has a particular affinity with it. At that point, he has no choice but to invite him to take the wheel to go together to the race.
