В фильме мы хотим рассказать обо всей истории российского буддизма, показывая ее через призму жизни одного из самых известных российских буддистов – Агвана Доржиева (1854-1938). Этот человек прожил несколько разных эпох и оставил свой след во многих странах. Бурят по происхождению, он учился в Лхасе и стал видным ученым, наставником Тринадцатого Далай-ламы, а затем послом Тибета в России.

The two-part saga begins in the Altai region, in the sixth century, passes through centuries and vast lands. In the film one can see the whole history of Russian Buddhism through the lens of the life of the legendary national spiritual figure Aghvan Dorzhiev (1854-1938). This remarkable man lived in several different eras and left his mark in many countries.

The spectator will discover the periods of flowering, forced destruction and renaissance of Buddhism in our country, hear stories of the past and views on the future, see the fate of the Kalmyk people during the Great Patriotic War, learn about the modern period of Buddhism renewal in the Russian Federation.
